Physics is unforgiving. If your flights are failing, it is likely due to a breach of fundamentals. Review the operational protocols below.
This is a classic stability failure. Your Center of Pressure (CP) was likely ahead of your Center of Gravity (CG). Ensure you have adequate fin surface area, or add nose weight to push the CG forward.
Insufficient recovery wadding. The hot gases from the ejection charge bypassed the wadding layer and struck the plastic canopy. Always use 3-4 sheets, completely blocking the tube diameter.
The igniter tip must be in direct contact with the propellant grain inside the motor nozzle. If it is inserted too shallowly, it will burn outside the propellant surface, failing to ignite the motor.
Consult the NAR Safety Code and local ordinances. While 1/2 A and A engines require minimal space, urban parks often have trees, power lines, and bystanders. It is strictly recommended to use designated, wide-open fields.
Yes. NAR and Tripoli Level 1 certifications require the flier to be at least 18 years old. A Junior HPR program exists for fliers aged 14-17 under adult supervision.
